Robin Hood’s Bay was once one of England’s most notorious smuggling villages. In the 18th century, hidden tunnels and secret passages were said to connect many houses, allowing smugglers to move goods such as tea, brandy and tobacco unseen. Today, guided ghost walks and smuggler walks are often available during the tourist season.
